 about

Grace's earliest memories are on paper and canvas.  As a child, Grace felt compelled to create.  From an early age, she was an observer of light, color and shapes.  Encouragement came in the form of paint-by-number oil painting kits and drawing pencils.

From there, Grace began her artistic journey and its been an weaving path ever since.

She considers herself self-taught, although artists' studios and mentoring groups have been part of that education. In the last few years, Grace has been seeking mentoring workshops, working en plein air.

Her first love was oil, with which she spent considerable years honing her skills. She has also dabbled in watercolor.

After receiving a set of Rembrandt pastels as a gift years ago, Grace was immediately entranced.  Its' vibrancy of color and immediacy of application were exciting. For the last 20+ years, Grace has been experimenting with pastels and pastel surfaces.

She considers herself to be a continual student of the arts, as there is always more to learn and discover.

“The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”
